Initiatives put standards in hands of residents

The vote of only three city council members can approve any development project in the city. The future of our city is in the hands of three people. The General Plan is only a guideline that three members of the council can and have overridden many times.

CCC initiatives will put the future of our city in the hand of residents of Cupertino.

They do not affect residential property. They do not restrict growth. Instead, residents will have the voting right to approve any project exceeding the standards.

Many old buildings will be torn down. Imagine that, what only three people want could be put in their place.

The initiatives are opposed by many people who do not necessarily live in Cupertino and who will financially or politically benefit from no standards for development.

The initiatives' standards are not arbitrary but were thoughtfully chosen from the array of standards set by the General Plan. All three standards are important to consider.

Compare the Apple Research Buildings to the Cypress Hotel area buildings. Both are very tall buildings, but the Apple buildings are not looming and obstructive to views. In contrast, the De Anza/ Stevens Creek buildings are imposing and out of character.

Vote yes on the initiatives and put the future of Cupertino back in your hands. Set standards of growth that are reasonable and can only be changed with your approval. Save our city.
